This is the second part of a 3 part series I’m writing about pearls, if you missed part 1 take a look here – I tell you about different types of pearls and the emergence of the ‘Pearlcore’ trend in 2022.
June Birthstone Jewellery
This post is all about Pearls as the June Birthstone, I have a wide range of handmade pearl jewellery that would make the perfect June Birthstone gift so I thought it would be helpful to talk about June Birthstone jewellery in more detail, but before we talk about that a quick explanation of just what is a birthstone?
The birthstone tradition can be found in both Western and Eastern traditions and can be traced all the way back to biblical times, the stones for each month have changed over time and there is still some discrepancies with different or multiple stones representing certain months.
The basic concept is that each month is represented by a precious stone, if you are born in that month then that is your birthstone. Different gemstones are said to symbolise different qualities.
Here at Louy Magroos I don’t specialise in a broad range of birthstone jewellery to cover each month of the year, but I have designed a popular range of pearl jewellery, and Pearl is the June birthstone, so these pieces are popular gifts for people born in June.
Pearl Birthstone Earrings, Necklaces & Rings
The pearl is said to symbolise wisdom and success, and attracts wealth and good luck. (Sounds lovely to me being June baby myself!!). I have a range of pearl jewellery which celebrates the pearl itself with simple designs that feature the pearl as the focal point.
Pearls are also associated with light and purity, innocence and sincerity, who knew one stone could mean so much! It doesn’t stop there, each individual colour of pearl can have its own meaning too…
Coloured Pearl Jewellery
One of the great things about Pearls is that they can come in a variety of different colours and sizes, this can completely change the look of a piece of jewellery, take a look at my Pearl Statement Ring which is available with your choice of Ivory White, Peachy Pink or Peacock Blue Pearl, each one stunning in its own right.
When it comes to different colours - if you have a specific pearl in mind for any of my designs then do get in touch to discuss it with me - I am always keen to accommodate a special commission to create a truly unique piece for you.
Types of Pearl Jewellery
If you have decided you want to gift some June birthstone jewellery you have pretty much endless choice as Pearl is a really popular stone in jewellery. (I’m trying to avoid a pun about the world being your oyster…).
My range features Pearl stud earrings, Pearl dropper earrings, Pearl Pendant Necklaces plus Pearl Cufflinks and Pearl Tie pins.
You can also choose between Sterling Silver (in polished silver or oxidised blackened silver) or 9ct Yellow Gold. Polished sterling silver reflects the lustre of the Pearl beautiful, while the black (Oxidised) silver creates a beautiful contrast that really makes the pearl pop. 9ct gold has an almost mesmerising look – the way it reflects the iridescence of the pearl, and in return the pearl reflects the warmth of the gold, it is truly magical.
Pearl jewellery can make a really thoughtful gift for someone with a June Birthday, some people hold the symbolism in very high regard and will treasure such a thoughtful meaningful gift.
Whatever you believe, I think its difficult to ignore the stunning beauty of Pearls, this is what led me to design jewellery that features this truly unique stone.
I hope you love pearl jewellery too and are enjoying this series of posts celebrating it, hold tight for the 3rd and final instalment where I will share with you everything I know about Pearl as the traditional 30th Pearl anniversary gift.
